Our group arrived in Miami anxious, excited and nervous to start our arduous journey of flight to the land of milk and honey. We flew to New York and had a five-hour layover, and thus we all split up and decided to explore the shopping and the restaurants in John F. Kennedy Airport. The time allowed for part of the group to get to know each other better with a popular game on the mobile phone called heads up, singing and guessing various pop culture aspects. A bunch of us also went to restaurants and ate dinner together at various cafes, which helped us learn a bit more about each other.
We then boarded our 11-hour flight to Israel. Luckily we had an assortment of complimentary movies and an array of games. Thankfully the majority of us slept during the flight to Tel Aviv. When we arrived in Tel Aviv, we definitely were overjoyed to get off and stretch our legs. The temperature was around 80 with mild humidity. At the airport we met our tour guide, bus driver and security guard. They seemed to be very aware, focused and genial.
Those that rented phones received their phone and a few of us bought sim cards to call in Israel with our American phones. We then ate dinner at the airport in a sort of courtyard with steps. It reminded me of the stone we will see at the Western wall. It had a very Mediterranean vibe. After we climbed on to the bus for a quick two hour trip to the King Solomon Hotel in Tiberius, Israel!
